| Description: | Performs functions that are directly and indirectly related to the care of the nursery pig. Locations would be working in and around of about a 30 mile radius of Iowa Falls, IA, also with some locations outside of that range as well. Performs basic site requirements such as housekeeping, feed ordering, sanitation and load in/out are components required of the Wean to Finish Nursery Herdsperson and Nursery Herdsperson. Will also be a resource to the Early Pig Care Specialist when required as pig care is the primary responsibility for the Wean to Finish nursery staff or Nursery staff. |
| Duties: | 1. Assist in maintaining herd health by observing pigs on a daily basis and using appropriate treatments as needed.
2. Assist Early Pig Care Specialist with required duties primary to pig care.
3. Conduct daily room assesments and report to pod lead.
4. Assist in feeding, shipping & receiving of pigs, sorting by size, vaccinating and tattooing.
5. Uphold Biosecurity standards and maintain safety standards.
6. Properly documenting all transactions on door cards.
7. Light maintenance, site sanitation, laundry and office care.
8. May need to assist at other Wean to Finish sites. |
| Qualifications: | Required Knowledge and Skills:
Position requires individual must be self-motivated and has the willingness to learn the required skills to assist in the production of a quality feeder pig.
Personnel Requirements:
Individual must be trustworthy, dependable, reliable and a team player. Must have ability to fulfill requirements as directed by Pod Lead or Service Manager.
Judgement Required:
Utilizes independent judgment in development and execution of day-to-day responsibilities.
The position has the opportunity for development, with continuous training that allows you to advance into more technical roles.
